Oh this was such a fun show about her life..as she aged she was played by Shirley Mac Lain
Did anyone get to see it..
Did anyone get to see it..
Black and whites were her trademark`
The little black dress was hers and she used jersey for an inexpensive fabric so the working women could afford to buy her designs..
I love her quotes-below~
(1883-1971) A fashion icon who started her career in Paris in 1914 with the opening of a tailoring shop that eventually evolved into the well-known fashion empire, Chanel. She designed woman's clothing to be comfortable yet attractive. The Chanel line is also popular for it's perfumes. handbags, and suits. The 1969 musical, Coco is based on her life.

Some quotes by Coco Chanel:
It is better to be with those who laugh than with those that make you laugh.
When a man acts like a fool, men say, "What a fool he is." When a woman acts foolishly, men say, "What fools women are."
To dress young you must feel young. That means being free and easy and unpretentious in your clothes, being able to breathe and move and sit without being conscious of what you have on. Some teenagers are the oldest women I know.
Youth must be replaced by mystery, prettiness by beauty.

~One of her quotes that is a favorite of mine is "Adornment is never anything but a reflection of self"....C.C....Linda just sent me this one (:) In my comments..
Lie, if you must, but never in detail, or to yourself. (don't ya love this one too)
I regret nothing in life except what I have not done.

I like CC's quotes ..but I also like what one of our fellow bloggers once said
"I never hurry or get in a rush'' (WOW that is something I have to really make an effort to do all the time...I am working on it..slow down- slow down(:))

Hey there Patty!
ReplyDeleteThat was interesting... I'm so out touch, that all this was new to me! ~ I lead that sheltered life ya know, down on thee farm! heehee
Hugs,
Lea
I love Coco Chanel. She changed the way women dress. We ALL dress more comfortably because of her. Any woman who looks at her and says they don't like her style because she was so shameless is ungrateful. She is the reason we are in pants today. She is the reason we are not in whalebones. She was absolutely fabulous. I'm so grateful she had the strength and fortitude to put her fashion ideas out there for all of us to still enjoy today!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that!!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures,I saw that one staring Shirley, it was great. She played her so well, the roll suited her dont you think?

Hi Patty...Coco Chanel was pure style and her little black dresss will always be a must have (however at this moment I'm without one). I did not see the show but it looks like it would have been something I'd have enjoyed. Loved reading the quotes. One of her quotes that is a favorite of mine is "Adornment is never anything but a reflection of self"....C.C., too true.
ReplyDeleteI'll e-mail my addie to you ..have a happy day...hugs, Linda

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had the quote that Shirley Mclaine said in the movie when she was on the couch with her neice. She said something to the effect of... "Strength is not made by our success but it is our failures that make us strong..." I cannot remember what she said and I loved it. If anyone remembers please post it for me! Thank you so much.
